Missing observations
A blank cell means no POP, PIP, PEP, or POP_R value is available for that country-year. A common reason is missing POP_R data for “independent” presidents not affiliated with a political party covered by V-Party.
Open source
LALLPI is an open-source project. Every step of the index – from the raw V-Party, V-Dem, Heritage, and EFW source data through to the published index_2025.csv – is implemented in publicly available code, not a black box. This is available so that anyone can:
- Verify the calculation. Every formula described on the Documentation page is implemented exactly as written in the pipeline scripts – step through the code and confirm the published numbers directly, rather than taking the methodology description on faith.
- Reuse or adapt it. Fork the repository, extend it to new countries or years, or build your own index on the same pipeline structure.
